Red2 Auction Capabilities: Overview

Red2 Auction is a framework (i.e. a technical baseline) from which auction developments are built, it’s easier to think of this as the starting point for any development. We are often asked what the features of our platform are, there are some key features by industry sector, but the framework has capabilities.

The Auction Framework has the rules and business logic for different auction models. This bottom tier deals with the physical implementation, for example, recording bids, extending auctions and so on. When exposing an Auction via the internet the user interface drives the experience. Whilst bids are recorded but the platform, these needs to be displayed updated and validated on the web page itself. Therefore a capability is something which Red2 Auction supports, but requires development to expose this online. In some instances Capabilities can be exposed as Features in a relatively straight forward manner, in others where, for example, a bidder must be invited, or have a credit limit, this capability requires work to enable the feature.
